Application for extension of visas, including entry, tourist and pilgrimage visas, are issued by Police Department of Aliens Affairs on the basis of justifiable reasons and approval of the mentioned Bureau.

A lot of tourists who have tourist visa for Iran want to stay more and extend their visa which is fortunately quiet easy whether for a tourist visa or work permission visa. First that you get your visa it allows you to stay for 30 days at max which is extendable to 60 days and again up to even 90 days but might be a little bit harder. If you use an Iranian embassy for this case, usually the police alien’s affairs Dept. extends your visa for the second 30 days. Also you have to be careful that extending visa on arrival can be a little bit more difficult so you might get only 15 days extension.in main cities of Iran like Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan, Yazd, Mashhad and Tabriz, visa extensions are available at Police Offices of Foreign Aliens.it is also possible to do this task in other cities but its better off that way.

Note: The extension of your visa when you get it in the airport is depended on the discretion of Police Aliens Affairs Dept. If you have a 15-day Iran visa on arrival you only can extend it up to another 15 days. Work permit visa will be extended by Police Aliens Affairs Dept. with Coordination of the Department of Aliens’ Employment at the ministry of labor and Social Affairs and on the basis of a request by the Iranian sponsor of the applicant.

Start the process early

Offices are open from Saturday to Wednesday, 7:30 AM – 2 PM. The offices are normally very crowded so go there early in the morning and start the process faster. Start the visa extension process 1-3 days left before your visa is expired.
